Bahrain Signs Participation Contract for Expo 2030 Riyadh

The event is expected to bring together more than 200 Official Participants and record 42 million visits, with national pavilions, cultural programmes, innovation and visitor experiences forming part of the six-month programme.

The Kingdom of Bahrain has signed its Participation Contract for Expo 2030 Riyadh, formalising the framework for its participation in the World Expo.

The agreement will support Bahrain’s preparations across key organisational and operational areas, including the development of its pavilion, programmes and visitor experiences for the six-month event.

The contract was signed in Bahrain by Talal Al-Marri, Chief Executive Officer of Expo 2030 Riyadh, on behalf of Expo 2030 Riyadh, and His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, on behalf of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa said Bahrain’s participation reflects the historic ties between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and the growing cooperation between the two countries. He added that the contract marks an important step in Bahrain’s preparations and will support its plans to present its identity, achievements and future aspirations at the Expo.

Talal Al-Marri said the signing marks a step forward in preparations for Expo 2030 Riyadh as participating countries move into the planning and delivery of their pavilions, programmes and experiences. He added that Expo 2030 Riyadh will work with the Bahrain team as preparations progress.

Bahrain is also expected to develop a sustainable pavilion that will remain beyond the six-month Expo and become part of the Global Village, contributing to the event’s long-term legacy.

More than 145 countries have confirmed their participation in Expo 2030 Riyadh, with Participation Contracts now being signed as preparations progress. France recently signed its Participation Contract in Paris.

The signing follows the See Agreement between Saudi Arabia and the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), which establishes the legal and administrative framework for the participation of countries and international organisations.

Preparations for Expo 2030 Riyadh are also continuing across the Expo site, infrastructure, construction and operational planning.

Expo 2030 Riyadh will take place from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031 under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow.” The event is expected to bring together more than 200 Official Participants and record 42 million visits, with national pavilions, cultural programmes, innovation and visitor experiences forming part of the six-month programme.
