Abu Dhabi will host the Al Hosn Festival at Qasr Al Hosn, the city’s oldest standing structure, from January 17. Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), the annual festival focuses on Emirati heritage, offering visitors an opportunity to engage with traditional crafts, food, music and cultural practices that continue to shape life in the UAE today.

Set within the historic fort, the festival features traditional souks showcasing crafts such as weaving, pottery and calligraphy. Visitors can observe live demonstrations by artisans and learn about the skills and techniques passed down through generations. Children can participate in workshops designed to introduce them to Emirati traditions in an interactive setting.

Cultural performances form a key part of the programme, with music and dance presentations taking place throughout the festival. These performances reflect long-standing traditions and provide insight into the social and cultural life of earlier generations in Abu Dhabi.

Food plays an important role at Al Hosn Festival, with a selection of traditional Emirati dishes available for visitors to sample. The culinary offerings highlight local ingredients and cooking methods, while also reflecting the role of hospitality in Emirati culture. Traditional clothing and adornments are also featured, allowing visitors to learn more about national dress and its cultural significance.

In addition, the festival includes art exhibitions and interactive installations that explore different aspects of cultural expression. These experiences aim to encourage engagement across generations and offer visitors a deeper understanding of the values that underpin Emirati society.

Al Hosn Festival presents Emirati culture within its historical context, bringing together heritage, education and community engagement at one of Abu Dhabi’s most significant landmarks.
