Dubai Fitness Challenge was first launched in 2017 by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. The initiative was introduced with the aim of encouraging residents to complete 30 minutes of exercise for 30 days and has since developed into a citywide fitness programme.
