Dubai’s annual Dubai Ride, a key event of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), saw its largest turnout yet, with over 37,130 cyclists joining to ride through Sheikh Zayed Road and Downtown Dubai on 10 November 2024. Presented by DP World and managed by LINKVIVA, the event brought together a wide range of cyclists from the community, from families and beginners to experienced riders, marking a successful half-decade of one of Dubai’s most popular community fitness events.
This year, participants had a choice between two routes designed to showcase the city’s iconic sights. The 4km Downtown loop offered a family-friendly route past landmarks such as the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Opera, while the 12km route along Sheikh Zayed Road took cyclists past the Museum of the Future and Dubai Water Canal. A new feature for 2024, the Dubai Ride Speed Laps, provided a faster-paced option for experienced cyclists who navigated the Sheikh Zayed Road route at an average speed of 30km/h.
Notable athletes joined the event this year, including American triathlete and Paris 2024 silver medalist Taylor Spivey and Safia Al Sayegh, who represented the UAE in road cycling at the Paris Olympics. Their participation highlighted the event’s focus on promoting active lifestyles and fitness in the community. Spivey’s appearance also anticipates her participation in the Dubai T100 Triathlon World Championship Final from November 16-17 at Meydan.
Dubai Police supercars led the start of Dubai Ride, followed by talabat riders, while DJs from UNTOLD Dubai provided music along the routes. Characters from Modesh World also joined the Downtown route, adding a family-friendly element to the morning’s activities.
The event was organized with support from over 1,200 LINKVIVA staff, who ensured a smooth experience for all participants.
