Hero Esports is set to host the first humanoid combat tournament in the region with the CyberHero x Riyadh showcase on September 9, 2026. The event will feature full-sized humanoid robots competing in a kickboxing format, with the tournament scheduled to begin at 9 PM.
The event will bring together robotics and esports, with professional esports athletes controlling the robots using advanced control systems. According to Hero Esports Co-founder and CEO Danny Tang, two Street Fighter players will operate the robots during the competition.
The Riyadh showcase will feature 10 EngineAI T800 humanoid robots competing in a purpose-built combat area. The robots will be tested on their movement, balance, reaction speed and ability to execute combat actions during live matches.
Each EngineAI T800 stands approximately 1.73 metres tall and weighs between 75 and 85 kilograms. The humanoid robot has 29 articulated joints, allowing it to walk, run, punch, kick, turn and recover after falling.
The tournament is planned as the first event in a wider series of CyberHero events expected to take place in major cities around the world.
Alongside the robot competition, the Riyadh event will feature music, lighting and live entertainment, including a set by an international DJ.
The venue for the event is yet to be announced. Doors are scheduled to open at 8:30 PM on September 9.
