The Oman Desert Marathon is set to return for its 11th edition from January 10 to 14, 2026. Organised by Oman Adventure, the event will take place in the Wilayat of Bidiyah, in the Al Sharqiyah North Governorate, offering participants the chance to run through one of the country’s most distinct desert landscapes.
A fixture in the region’s endurance calendar, the event brings together a mix of professional athletes and amateur runners. The race offers several distance categories to accommodate different levels of experience and preference. Participants can register for a full marathon (42 km), a half-marathon (21 km), 10 km and 5 km races, as well as a 2 km run designed specifically for children.
In addition to these, the 2026 edition will feature two long-distance formats. The Classic Ultra is a 165 km self-supported race that traces an old caravan route, starting from Al Wasil Fort and concluding at the Arabian Sea. A 100 km desert hike will follow the same route, designed for those seeking an endurance challenge with a slower pace.
The event has also received accreditation from SheRACES, an initiative that recognises events for meeting standards of female inclusion and safety in ultra-distance running. The organisers have confirmed that this year’s event continues to build on accessibility and inclusivity.
