Qiddiya City to Welcome 21,000-Seat Horse Racing Venue with Expandable Capacity, Set to Host Saudi Cup

The venue will become the new permanent home of the Group 1 USD 20 million Saudi Cup, currently held at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh.

Qiddiya Investment Company has announced the development of a new horse racing venue in Qiddiya City, further advancing Saudi Arabia’s plans to strengthen its position in global sport and entertainment.

The venue is designed as an integrated racing destination that reflects the Kingdom’s equestrian heritage while meeting international racing standards. At its core, the facility will feature a 2,200-metre main turf track with a straight incline, a 2,400-metre inner dirt track, and the region’s first straight-mile turf course. The layout is planned to support multiple international race formats within a single setting.

A 110-metre parade ring will allow visitors closer interaction with horses and jockeys, enhancing the overall race-day experience. The grandstand will seat 21,000 spectators, with capacity expandable to 70,000 during major international events.

The venue will become the new permanent home of the Group 1 USD 20 million Saudi Cup, currently held at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Riyadh. The relocation marks a significant development in the Kingdom’s racing landscape and aligns with broader efforts to enhance sports infrastructure under Vision 2030.

Equine welfare has been integrated into the project’s design. A dedicated on-site Equine Hospital will provide diagnostics, surgery, rehabilitation and emergency care, supporting international best practices in horse health and safety.

Beyond race days, the venue will operate as a year-round destination. Plans include nine fine-dining restaurants, premium hospitality lounges and multipurpose social spaces. The site is also expected to host the Turf Racing Festival and other equestrian events, contributing to sports tourism and community engagement.

Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia and Qiddiya Investment Company are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding during the Asian Racing Conference to support coordination and long-term development of the Kingdom’s racing ecosystem.

The Horse Racing Venue forms part of Qiddiya City’s wider masterplan to establish a national hub for sport, entertainment and culture, supporting the Kingdom’s Quality of Life objectives and economic diversification goals.
