The Ministry of Culture has launched a Freelance Culinary License for Saudi chefs, available for the first time through the Abde’a Cultural Licenses Platform. This new license allows trained Saudi nationals to work independently in the culinary field without being tied to a restaurant or catering company.
The license is open to Saudi citizens aged 18 and above who have completed certified culinary training and hold valid food safety or health credentials. Once licensed, individuals can legally offer their services for private catering, participate in public events and festivals, and collaborate with businesses and brands.
The initiative is part of the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to support professional opportunities in the cultural and creative sectors. It also provides a legal framework for individuals working informally or from home to operate in a more structured and recognized capacity.
