The Ministry of Commerce has reported a notable rise in commercial registrations related to the hospitality sector during the second quarter of 2025, highlighting a steady expansion in tourism-related services across the Kingdom.
According to the ministry’s latest data, commercial registrations for holiday homes and chalets grew by 42%, reaching 8,617 by the end of Q2 2025. This marks a significant increase from 6,063 registrations during the same period last year, indicating growing interest in tourism accommodation services and increased investment activity in this area.
The Riyadh region led in registrations, recording 3,216, followed by Makkah with 3,047, the Eastern Province with 721, Madinah with 515, and Asir.
Additionally, hospitality unit reservation services saw a 32% increase in commercial registrations, rising to 5,099 in Q2 2025 compared to 3,850 in Q2 2024. Makkah topped this category with 2,027 registrations, followed by Riyadh with 1,939, Madinah with 410, the Eastern Province with 374, and Al-Qassim with 81.
This upward trend reflects growing domestic tourism activity and the government’s efforts to improve the investment environment through streamlined procedures and support for the private sector. These developments are aligned with the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and increase tourism’s contribution to the national GDP.
In total, the Ministry of Commerce issued over 80,000 new commercial registrations across all sectors during the second quarter of 2025, bringing the cumulative number of active commercial records in Saudi Arabia to more than 1.7 million.
