Rural tourism farms have become an increasingly important part of Saudi Arabia’s domestic tourism sector in recent years, as agricultural areas across the Kingdom continue to diversify their offerings by combining nature, hospitality, and rural experiences.
According to the Cooperative Association for Agricultural, Rural and Environmental Tourism, Saudi Arabia is home to approximately 450 licensed rural tourism farms, reflecting growing investment in the sector and its role within the country’s tourism landscape.
The association’s chairman, Radi Al-Faridi, said rural tourism can be enhanced through activities linked to local crops and products, helping visitors engage more closely with destinations and agricultural communities.
Al-Faridi noted that rural tourism experiences can provide insight into agricultural practices, production processes, and local products, while also offering opportunities for visitors to sample and purchase locally produced goods.
He added that Saudi Arabia’s environmental and agricultural diversity supports a variety of tourism experiences, including visits to date palm farms, rose farms, Saudi coffee plantations, fruit orchards, honey farms, and destinations associated with seasonal crops.
As the sector continues to develop, rural tourism farms are contributing to local economies by connecting visitors with agricultural activities, cultural traditions, and community life, while supporting broader rural development objectives.
