Spartan Middle East to Host Indoor Obstacle Race at Etihad Arena This September

Organised with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the event aims to provide a high-energy yet accessible challenge for participants of various fitness levels.

Spartan Middle East is bringing one of the region’s most recognised obstacle races indoors for the first time. Scheduled for Saturday, September 20, the upcoming event will take place at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, featuring a 3km course and 15 signature Spartan obstacles.

Organised with the support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the event aims to provide a high-energy yet accessible challenge for participants of various fitness levels. The indoor venue will offer a climate-controlled setting, with a small outdoor section included in the course. Designed for speed and intensity, this ‘City’ format introduces a new take on the traditional Spartan experience.

In addition to the main event, younger athletes will also have the opportunity to participate. Children aged four to six can join a 1km race, those aged seven to nine can take on a 1.5km route, and participants aged nine to 14 can compete in a full 3km race.

All finishers will receive a Spartan t-shirt and medal upon completion, along with refreshments at the finish line.

Earlier this year, Spartan Middle East hosted large-scale races including the Trifecta Weekend at Dubai Parks and Resorts and a Dawn ’til Dusk event at Bab Al Shams, drawing over 11,500 participants combined.

The upcoming race in Abu Dhabi offers participants the opportunity to prepare for the Spartan World Championship, which will return to the UAE capital in November.
