teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi Opens Two Additional Immersive Experiences in Saadiyat Cultural District

With these two additions, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi continues to expand its offering of experiential artworks that encourage visitors to engage with their surroundings through observation, movement, and awareness.

teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi has unveiled two new artworks, adding to its growing programme of immersive installations in the Saadiyat Cultural District. The newly opened works, “Massless Suns and Dark Suns” and “Megaliths in the Roots Garden,” offer visitors new ways to engage with light, space, and movement within the museum.

The experience begins with a deliberate transition from the exterior to the interior of the building. While sunlight reflects strongly off the structure’s white, curved façade, the entrance leads into a dimly lit space designed to allow visitors’ eyes to adjust gradually, setting the tone for the artworks inside.

“Megaliths in the Roots Garden” invites visitors to remove their shoes before entering. The environment is dark and mist-filled, with varied textures underfoot that heighten sensory awareness. The installation extends across multiple levels, including a newly opened lower floor where tree roots hang freely in the air, creating the impression of suspended movement. Surrounding megalith forms rise from the space, forming a quiet, immersive setting that balances natural elements with sculptural structures.

The second artwork, “Massless Suns and Dark Suns,” presents a more intimate experience. Accessed through a narrow, low-lit pathway, the installation accommodates up to ten visitors at a time. Inside, softly glowing spheres move and shift in response to presence and motion, creating a dynamic environment that changes continuously. Each visit results in a different visual and spatial experience shaped by individual interaction.

With these two additions, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi continues to expand its offering of experiential artworks that encourage visitors to engage with their surroundings through observation, movement, and awareness.
