Visit Qatar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft at Web Summit Qatar 2025 to collaborate on digital innovation in the tourism sector. The agreement was signed by Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, and Lana Khalaf, Country Manager of Microsoft, marking the next phase of this partnership.
This MoU builds upon the development of Visit Qatar’s GenAI Travel Concierge, powered by Microsoft Azure and OpenAI 4o and 4o mini. The collaboration aims to explore new technologies to enhance visitor experiences and improve business operations in Qatar’s tourism industry.
Visit Qatar’s Smart Travel Assistant integrates text, voice, content, a conversational AI assistant, mapping, and an interactive planning interface, providing travelers with a user-friendly experience for trip planning and personalization.
Through this partnership, Visit Qatar and Microsoft will develop a technology roadmap that integrates smart and digital solutions to improve the visitor journey. By leveraging Microsoft’s expertise and Visit Qatar’s focus on innovation, the initiative seeks to create a more seamless and efficient travel experience.
Visit Qatar’s work in digital transformation has been recognized with several awards in 2024, including:
- Microsoft AI Excellence Award for the Visit Qatar GenAI Chatbot Trip Concierge.
- Gold at the MENA Digital Awards for Best Application (Mobile/Tablet).
- Silver at the MENA Digital Awards for Best Web Platform.
The Visit Qatar GenAI Chatbot Trip Concierge provides personalized itineraries and travel insights in over 50 languages, making travel more accessible for visitors worldwide.
